225 area code is a telephone area code that covers part of southern Louisiana, including the entire nine-parish Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area. The area code was the second area code to be split off from the original area code 504, which had covered the entire state previously. Area code 318 was the first to be split off from area code 504 in 1957. In 1998/1999, area code 225 split from 504 area code.
