214, 469, and 972 area codes are telephone are codes assigned to the Dallas area in the state of Texas. Area code 214 was one of the original area code created in 1947. On September 14, 1996, 972 was created, splitting the Dallas suburbs from Dallas city proper, but was later converted to an overlaid when area code 469 established on July 1, 1999.
